STEPPING INTO SPRING WITH JD WILLIAMS

I love the warmer months, it means we get out more with the boys, they sleep better as a result and everyone is just a whole lot happier. You're suddenly able to discuss the weather with the lady at the till, your neighbour over the fence and the postman - the sunshine has a funny way of making everyone just that bit chirpier, we are no exception to this. I love spring and summer, I truly do, but after having such a long winter, I wasn't exactly prepared for the sudden bout of sunshine and neither was my wardrobe.

It's safe to say spring hit us like a freight train, a really welcomed one however, and after my initial excitement I quickly realised that my summer wardrobe was none existent. I've had so many minimisation moments in the past year that I'm certain I've discarded of anything slightly warm weather suitable either that or we have a clothes thief in the house - John, do you have something to tell me? So as I rummaged around the vacuum packed parcels in search of something remotely suitable, I checked my e-mails and as if by magic, JD Williams invited me to have a look at what they had to offer in terms of Spring footwear. I quickly logged on and was very pleasantly surprised by what I saw, I'd never thought of JD Williams to shop online with before if I'm honest, but I know they're somewhere I'll happily look again, they had such a variety that you could pick up something for the whole family with ease, it doesn't matter if they're into hiking, beach walks or lazing around the house - they had something for absolutely everyone.

I chose a pair of the Adidas cloudfoams first as every Mum knows you need a good pair of trainers on your shoe rack. With Patrick being the type of child to dash the complete opposite way you want him to, it's important for me that I can follow quickly, whilst fancy sandals might look lovely in the right Instagram shot, they're not practical for me when I have two boys to be chasing after day to day. We're a very outdoors-y family, wading through fields, trekking in the woods and playing football in the park is part of our every week, our footwear has to withstand that so I knew Adidas trainers were a safe bet. I wasn't wrong, I've been wearing the cloudfoams for just over a week and there isn't a single sign of blistered skin, the soles are undeniably comfortable and they're super easy to clean up after our weekend adventures.

Next to catch my eye was a pair of Toms, I'd never owned Toms before and given that you can't head to any airport without seeing every budding flyer wearing them, I knew it was time to invest. I was a bit weary, I thought they wouldn't be supportive and I'd feel every single lump and bump underneath them, again, I was completely wrong. What I did find however was that they do feel really small when you put them on initially, I'm a five/six in shoes, but a six in these were pretty snug - after searching online I realised that my feet hadn't grown overnight, but that the shoes simply give a little with wear and this is to ensure that they're a comfortable wear that fits to your foot - genius. My top trick was to take the soles out, wear them around the house for a few days and then viola, they fit like a glove.

I really loved the Toms and regret not getting a pair sooner, they were so comfortable and perfect with any outfit for any occasion. I could wear them down to the beach with a kaftan, or out for lunch with a tea dress. They're going to be great on holiday as we all know when you're packing suitcases with children in tow, you need every bit of room you can get, meaning shoes that are versatile are a winner for me. Shopping with JD Williams was pleasant and stress free, the products arrived within 3 days of ordering even though their website advises it could be longer. I know where I'll be searching when it comes to snapping up more spring buys.

This is a collaboration with JD Williams, as always all opinions are my own and we would happily recommend and use their services again.
