I love thinking about baby names, more so when you don't have an actual baby to name yourself because there is no pressure, you can throw names about and it's all in jest. Which is why I've loved the recent baby names tag floating around Youtube, I'm yet to see it on an actual blog so I thought I'd bring it this way myself. The questions are interesting and goes a little deeper than the generic 'You're favourite baby names that you love but wont use'. Just to give you a head start, the questions instruct you to go from this baby names list for boys and this for girls, both from the year 2015.
1. What is your favourite boy and girl's name from the top UK names list?
For girls, none of my actual favourite names are on this list, which I guess is a bonus but I do quite like the name Maisie though I'd probably use the spelling of 'Maisy' it's sweet and I tend to go for names that can carry someone throughout a lifetime, I can easily imagine a baby Maisy and also a adult Maisy too. As for boys, this was trickier, though I've had to go for Rory, we contemplated this name for Patrick, loving it's too Irish background so it's still a favourite of mine.
2. What is your least favourite boy and girl's name from the top UK names list?
Ooo, hard question. I'm not going to be too boring, because there are names that in general I don't like, whether it's because I associate them with a negative person or experience or I just don't think they would go in my family. Apologies if you have these names, but it's all down to personal preference. For a girl it's the name Harper, it reminds me of the Beckhams and I couldn't ever shake that and for boys it's Jayden, for absolutely no reason other than they would be shortened to Jay and I can't click with that name.
3. If you had twins, what would you name them? (G/G, B/B, B/G)
This is super easy, probably because me and John already sneakily ran through these questions the other day (just for fun I promise) Girl, girl would be Nancy and Martha. Boy, boy would be Rory and Rupert, and for boy girl it would be Rupert and Nancy.
4. If you could change your name to anything what would it be?
I actually don't mind my name, it's a bit boring isn't it but it's very traditional and always in the top 10 - Emily. It's sailed me through life quite well and funnily enough, I never really knew any other Emilys.
5. You have four children, any gender, their first names all have to start with the same letter. What would their names be?
I'm going to cheat a little and use Noah, Nancy, Ned and Noelle. Though Noah and Noelle sound incredibly similar, I couldn't cope with children with the same initial. I don't know how the kardashians manage to stay sane.
6. What's your favourite animal inspired name?
It has to be fox - it's such a sweet name but I'm not sure how they would fair at school with the name Fox.
7. What's your favourite colour inspired name?
Violet is quite a sweet little name, I imagine a very dainty little girl named Violet, so she probably wouldn't be my child.
8. What are your top 3 favourite boy names?
Rupert, Ralph and Rory.
9. What are your top 3 favourite girl names?
Nancy, Martha and Mable.
10. What is your favourite celebrity baby name?
Now does this mean a celebrities name, or a celebrities child's name? I'm going to go for the latter and cheat and use an already favourite of mine, Russell Brands daughter I believe is called Mable?
11.What is your ultimate guilty pleasure name?
I know this, because it was what I wanted to call Patrick from the get to, Percy. But nobody would allow it, I was suckered into believing he'd be called Percy Pig for most of his childhood.
12. What are your most hated baby names?
Hates a bit of a strong word for a name isn't it? A names just a name. I dislike the names mentioned above though, I'm not too fond of names of countries as childrens names. I'm not sure why they're just not my favourite.
13. A baby name based on a food / drink?
Olive is a lovely name, you'd have to be kind of edgey to pull it off though.
14. A baby name based on a month?
This is quite limited isn't it, but January, in a January-Jones-esque. I'm not too keen on the more obvious month names, such as June or April.
15. Choose a baby name from a movie?
Ooooh, Ally. I love the notebook and I already have my Noah.
16. Choose a name that is already in your family.
Well we've already done that with Patrick, both my Nans brother and father were Patricks. Though that's not why we chose it, if I had to pick another it would be Arthur as that was my Dads, Grandads name. Arthur was also coincidentally on our list for Noah, if John didn't say 'ar-fur' instead he may well have been a baby Arthur.
Now the fun part! I tag some fellow bloggers to share their favourite and worst baby names, using this tag. Gemma Zoe, Claire and Emily all four of these beautiful ladies have already picked some great names for their little ones, so I'd love to hear what they would have and could have picked if they had another babe.
